And the Beat Goes On

Greetings;

It has been a while since I've updated my blog to put it mildly but a great deal has happened in the interim.

Since last I wrote, all of the water pipes in the trailer have had to be replaced, I've been in the VA Hospital due to right ventricular problems, and have had all of my fangs pulled. I'm still hurting from that last bit.

I'm now on a C-Pap machine and Oxygen, fun, fun.

In spite of all of that, plans continue to eventually move out to the mountain.

Weather permitting, I have an appointment on Monday at the VA for a Mobility consult, and might receive a scooter that will allow me outdoor access when we move out there.

Ready for Spring

The Winter hasn't been kind to us here in the North Central Arkansas Ozarks. The heavy ice storm that swept through the area knocked down a huge amount of timber, which took out much of the electrical grid. My Guardian generator ran for six days straight.

I had just filled the 250 gallon propane tank to 85% and when the electrical was restored I was down to 40% but it was well worth the $471 to be one of only 3 homes in this part of Searcy County to have power during the mess.

One of my neighbors told me that one of his friends drove by while the electrical was out and saw my porch light burning. His friend said he was upset because of it.

I told him to tell his friend to invest in a standby generator, it is worth it. Mine has repaid me many times over for the cost of $4,000, which included the instillation, automatic switching unit, and wiring in.

They are cheaper now than when I bought mine over 5 years ago.

The power was restored out on the mountain, about 3 weeks after it was restored in town. Now, the clean up, that is going to take a while. It will take many years for the area to recover from the storm and the reminders will be evident as one looks out over the destroyed trees.

The Beginning

Out the front door, nature awaits with peace, and sanity, hand-in-hand.

No traffic, no madding crowds, end of the road, and the only through-way is 1,500 feet straight down into the waiting Little Red River.
Looking down at Eagles on the wing, not for those faint of heart.
A momentary thought of the journey down but sanity prevails once again.
The first of many.

The Beginning--2

The old stone house in Leslie, AR

The 'NEW' digs out on the mountain.

It may not look like much at the moment but it is early days as yet. still have enclosure of the bottom, decks, ramps, and roofs to build, landscaping, flower beds, and such to situate.

Then the lawn for Toni to mow, dog-runs, and pens--for 3 big~1 Great Dane Mix, 1 ? Mix, 1 Rott/Black Lab mix, 2 Minpins, 1 Midpin, 1 obnoxious Maltese~ dog/s.
Then to build a couple of acres of pasture fencing, stable, and storage shed to keep the
2--horses, 1 donkey, and pigmy goat cared for, which takes care of the non-caged critters.

That still leaves an ill tempered parrot named 'Bubba,' a Cockatiel, 1 Lovebird, 1 Parakeet, a Chinchilla, and a rabbit.

Hopefully, we will be able to have things arranged by mid to late summer or autumn so mom can get moved in while she can still enjoy it.

Be well;
Toni and Ed
